FOUR VENUE TIERS, THREE SHOWS
Start with your estimated audience size. Each tier shows which show formats work best, common venue types, and what to plan for.
30–99
Intimate
Comedy Mentalism or Keynote Speaking
Common Venues
- Conference room
- Breakout session
- Boardroom
- Small fellowship hall
- Private dining room
No raised stage required. Mentalism works from the floor with the audience seated close. Keynotes fit naturally in any room with a screen and a microphone. Comedy hypnosis is possible but works best at 50+ for volunteer selection.
100–499
Standard
Comedy Hypnosis (Sweet Spot)
Common Venues
- Hotel ballroom
- School auditorium
- College theater
- Banquet hall
- Mid-size gymnasium
The ideal range for comedy hypnosis. Enough audience for strong volunteer selection, small enough to feel personal. A raised stage is recommended but not required. 15–20 armless chairs on stage, clear sightlines from every seat.
500–999
Large
Comedy Hypnosis or Keynote Speaking
Common Venues
- Conference general session
- Large auditorium
- Arena floor
- Field house
- Convention center ballroom
A raised stage becomes important for sightlines. Professional PA and lighting are essential. Comedy hypnosis scales naturally — the energy in a 500-person room is electric. Keynotes land well in this range with proper AV support.
1,000+
Arena
Comedy Hypnosis or Keynote Speaking
Common Venues
- Arena
- Stadium floor
- Grand ballroom
- Large theater
- Field house
Large-format productions. Raised stage with professional lighting is required. Two large screens for IMAG (image magnification) are recommended so the back rows can see volunteer reactions. Randy has performed for audiences of several thousand — the show scales to the room.

HOW THE STAGE IS SET

15–20 armless chairs in a shallow arc
Audience Seating
Arranged so every seat has a clear view of the volunteer chairs
TECH CHECKLIST
SOUND, LIGHTING & ACCESS
The complete checklist your venue or AV team needs. A full, plain-English tech rider is provided when you book.
Performance Area
A clear, level space — minimum 16ft × 12ft for hypnosis shows. Mentalism and keynotes need far less.
Chairs
15–20 sturdy armless chairs for comedy hypnosis. Not needed for mentalism or keynote.
Microphone
At least one working wireless handheld or headset microphone. Randy brings his own show audio.
PA System
A professional sound system appropriate to the room and audience size. The show depends on clear audio.
Lighting
Adequate lighting on the performance area so the audience can see faces and reactions. Stage wash is ideal.
Audience Seating
Arranged so the stage is clearly visible from every seat. No obstructed sightlines to the volunteer chairs.
Good to know: Randy arrives well ahead of showtime for setup and a sound check. He coordinates directly with your venue or AV team so you do not have to. If anything about your room is unusual — low ceilings, pillars, an odd shape — mention it during planning and he will adapt the layout.
